MC Loco Brief Profile

I started mc-ing in 1993 when as you will know was the old school days, the first gig I got was at a club called MOIST in Rosyth Fife- This is where I got my break and started to get other gigs around Scotland.

I then started to get to know dj's /promoters and I mc'd at various nights including the KRONK /THE FRIDGE/ZEN/and a guest slot at AWSOME101..in 1995 I was offered the Resident Slot at NOSEBLEED it was Scotland's top club for 3 years running whilst doing nosebleed I was also mc'ing at at FUSION, JUDGEMENTDAY, HANGER13, NORTH, FUBAR, REZERECTION, and a trip down to England to the SANCTUARY in Milton Kenes for DEATHROWTECHNO.

I stopped mc'ing in 2002 briefly. I have since started to mc again, and at the moment I have been mc'ing at CHILL/LIMITED EDITION.

I am to mc at PLANETLOVE in Northern Ireland in September and SYSTEM-X but I don't have a date for that yet and a few gigs coming up at LUMINOUS in Glasgow and I am booked to play at DARK MATTER (drum and bass night), as I say I've just started to get back in to the scene again after such a long time away. but all is looking good at the moment.

MC Loco Interview with Fantazia 2007

So how did it all begin?
I first got into Mcing back in 1992 when I was going raving to the likes of Awesome 101 / Moist / Rezerection / Pandemonium / The Kronk / Eurodance.   For me at that time I could only dream of being on the mic.  I have always been into drum n bass ad at the time of 92 Scotland most ravers were into hardcore, I loved it deep down, I'm a DnB guy.

By no way I'm dissin the hardcore, no.  As I love it to.  But staying in Scotland the DnB scene was not as big as it was down south at that time, I remember going to see DJ SS and Kenny Ken at Earthquaker, Scotlands first proper out door rave and it blew me away that night.   Wathcing MC Gavze on the mic I devided I'm gonna do that.  So I practiced with amm my DJ tapes and at parties when ever I got the chance.    Folk would say that's shit or that's ok or just piss themselfs laughing at me.  But I stuck at it and would keep trying until I got my break in 93 at the Fridge Club Mcing for DE-V8 and DJ Kid.  What a night I never looked back.

What gave you that initial push?
That's an easy one, all the folk saying I would never be up on the stage gave me the determination to prove to them that I could do it.  So who is laughing now suckers, lol.
T .SO WHO IS LAUGHING NOW SUCKERS LOLJ.

Who’s throwing the best parties at the moment?
Definitely Fantazia and Colours just look at Fantasylands and how good a night it was.

Which other countries have you played?
I've played in England a few time (Helterskelter/Death Row Techno) both a Milton Keynes, Newcastle (Judement Day) and the Dome in Liverpool.

What was the first event you ever played at?
It was a club called the Fridge back in 93 I'll never forget that night.

What’s the best event you’ve played at?
Now thats a hard one, played at a lot of great events, if I had to pick one it would be the first time I played at Rezerection.

What was your first record you bought?

It's an old Italian House Tune called Sinade Rosa brilliant!

When all the partying is over how do you like to chill out?
Like a few beers love playing the 360 at the moment and watching the football

So how is the scene in your eyes at the moment?
At the moment its looking great its getting bigger again and really picking up big time with a lot of smaller nights happening again all over the place, which is great for the scene, they you have all the big nights like Fantazia etc.  It's all good loving every second of it, things can only get better.

What's is your real name if you use an alias and how old are you?
Stevie or Watty as most people know me by

Where do you live?
At the moment I'm staying in Fife in a town called Lochgelly

What can you remember of playing/being at a Fantazia?
The Buzz from the crowd, the noise its second to now.  The set up and the production of it is all top class.

Funniest thing that ever happened at an event?

Lol definitely at Fantasylands when I was MCing for Bass Generator.  Guy thought it would be fun to swap the mic for the headphones, so we did, he ended up MCing and me DJing not for long though as I can't mix soup :)
