What a site!! what a fantasic history fantazia have. I was lucky enough to go to fantazia 97 as a wee 17 y old clubber. only been clubbing 6months. What a night.. highlight of the night had 2b K Klass live, fuckin wicked! but what a shame there is no CD to buy of there live 45minute set. I'm lucky enough to own a copy (a friend (Thanks Dr. Ro!) recorded it off Kiss FM, the local dance station, so looks like i have a bit of a rare one there! if you'd like 2 buy a CD email - paulrenshaw2001@hotmail.com) I remember now how we were all still in manchester till about lunch time the next day, sat in macdonalds off our faces chattin and smokin (oh those were the days, being allowed to smoke indoors!!) Remember going into eastern bloc and scaring dean wilson, golden's resident, as we all danced about to tunes on the decks.. I bought a special 2vinyl pack of - lucid 'i cant help myself' (still have it somehwere) Got to say - hardcore really was at its best about 93/4 just before the split of happy and jungle. Fantazia 97 was really a house Rave with the old hardcore mentality.. best of both worlds at the time, I suppose. well big up Fantazia and if anyone wants a CD of KKlass email me - easy :-) paulrenshaw2001@hotmail.com

Well what can I say. Fantazia was my life back in the day, ravin then trying to get hold of the tapes weeks later. I still listen to them to this day, with a smile on my face. I know its a bit of a cliche, but i wish the parties now were like back then. i recently went to a party at the Bath and West and although i was listening to the cream of the crop of todays Djs, my mind was full of images of the Showcase party back in 92. Although being in a differant state of mind I can still re-call wicked sets by Top Buzz and seduction, to name but a few. In all I attended all the large Fantazia's during 91-92, and can honestly say that they were the best nights of my life. Big up to all the oldskool who are still keeping it real, to this day. The original vibe is still around, just need to look for it.

I'm only 18 so obviously didn't get the chance to experience the rave scene as it was (gutted!). But I do go to raves, just wish they were like the videos on this site!!! I don't reckon hardcore will come back as big as it was in the early 90s, but maybe that's a good thing, then it might not atract all the c**ts who go to raves lookin for fights (what's the point??). Hope there will be a big rave just playin old hardcore tunes in the near future, maybe a bit too much wishful thinkin?...

Friday, 05 November 2004

yeah those days were real good and never 2 be forgotten. I cant even start to think about how many free and pay raves that i must of been 2. Now at almost 37 i realise that we are never gonna have another era like what we had from the end of the 80's to the mid 90's ever again in our life time. Raves have never been the same since they brought in all those police bills to stop people partying. It all came done to 1 thing and that was the fact that the system dont want people to enjoy themselfes ! especially if they aint making a cut.... I must say that I had some of the best times of my life at some of those parties, especially Universe Raves as i think they were the best pay parties ever to be held in the uk, any1 that use to go to them will never forget the 1 just ouside Bath, cant remeber if it was the Tribal Gathering or... all i know is that was the best pay rave i ever went too, and there was like "20,000 peps in the place! now that was a party if i ever went to one! I also remember a free party in the South of England in a place called Castle Monkton which was just crazy and lasted for 2 weeks, there were so many people even the police could not stop us lol All them days back then were undiscrible really lol and that aint just cause we were on a whole heap of Cali's or Shamrock's and purple ohm's, i guess it did help slighly though ;) While i'm here i would like that thank any1 that supported me and Ektos in the early 90's to make Swindon what it was bac in ther day, i also want to thank all the people that supported me and the people that use to play along side me for the many years i played at the Brunnel Rooms. Those were great days that i will never forget ! i will also never forget my Residency at Mad Up in Reading, i had so may great nights there ! Thxs for having me Reading :) Its real good 2 see people have not forgotten how it use 2 be ! Raves might have long died but music always lives ;) Dj Kool Cut Dee

Fantazia days were the best days of my life. I don't regret a minute of them, the trouble is life over the last 10 years since then has been boring. To the person who is confused about the bagpipes on New Years Eve...I remember being completly freaked out at the time, I didn't know what the F*** was going on ! If only I could turn back the clock for one night it would be Donnington..totally wicked night. I remember being totally f****** in the morning and then Rat Pack came on and everyone went mental again. Thanks everyone for those memories..

The fantazia raves circa 1991, 1992 hold many fantastic memories for me. As a Scot, we as a nation never really embraced the fantastic breakbeat scene that was pioneered by the English and championed by Fantazia. With this in mind, myself and a few like minded hardened ravers made the long trip south for three Fantazia event during 1992. One Step Beyond will go down as my finest ever rave. Slick production, wicked DJ's, top tunes all night, cool people and even reasonable security made it a night to remember. Glad to see the DVD has been released - has been added to Santa's list this Xmas. Peace. Steve

Yes yes Fantazia massiv! I'm only 20, wish so much I coulda been there 10 years ago. Remember in '93 my dad's m8 lent me da ratty/ramjack set from nye 92 (best tape EVA me thinks!!).. b4 dat I'd only listened 2 compilations like rave generation & stuff like dat. Couldn't believe what I waz hearin, fuckin wikkid! Just ordered da whole nite's music on cd, neva thought I'd get 2 hear it again afta I lost dat precious tape of mine! Thamk-u!.. I ent askin u, I'm tellin u, u need 2 put on anotha event!! I'm sick of goin ravin' & there bein loadza trouble. I'm in2 all types of music, I've experienced da drum'n'bass & garage scenes & dere's jus too much trouble, people jus don't go out 4 da love of music nemore.. couple of years ago I used 2 dj at this club where they played old skool & dere waz no trouble at all, jus pure vibes! So what's wid da long ting, get it 2getha & give da people what they want! A fantazia old skool reunion event, coz u do it propa, too many events jus play da same old tunes, but I know Fantzia can smash it up, I've heard da tapes!! & now dat Sanctuary's been knocked down we got nowhere 2 go ravin' :-( Big up Fantazia, nuff respec..

A dream came true back in 89 when i first kicked and joined the scene. At That time the DJ's motivated us with house and garage but along came the Rave scene as we love it today. Fantazia can hold their head up high for what they did for the scene and the people. I hear of many complaints about ticket prices but at the end of the day why complain after you have already attended and loved every rush. The name Fantazia came but didn't go....it's here today. Everything from the venue's they chose to the DJ's they booked went in their favour. (Changing Pronouns) You were a part of my life which i'll never forget and will always hold on to. A golden era of music. The exitement of arriving to all Fantazia nights still stays with me. You weren't alone, there were others promoters that layed an great nights. Infact i hear you were all working together in the scene at one point...which had to be the summer of love. All the names and faces i met over the space of five years will stay with me. I opened a thread the other day.. just trying to remember one particular night (NYE 91-92)bought it all back in the space of ten minutes. That is why I suggest you go for it Charlie, before it's to late. Most of us are in our early thirties now. Some maybe even older but if we all pull our weight we could bring it all back to life one more time. I'm sure it's going to be a slow process and a lot of money but....with the nation and the oldskool behind you...it's gonna be happening. Jonah

Yes, Yes big up the Fantazia Crew, Missed you lot trust me. The godfathers of the whole Underground Dance scene, Pre Jungle, Pre Helter Skelter, Pre One-nation, These guys put on some amazing parties "back in the day" if you can get 27000 people to smile and dance the night away then you must be doing somthing right. If you put on another event say an old-skool, reunion. I'd be there with bells on trust we rude bwoy!!!!!! All the best for the future, and your logo Come and join the future was definently true as the underground dance music scene is still going, with Happy Hardcore, House, Drum&Bass ETC.

Was their at Westpoint at New Year 92 & Second Sight & live up the road from Summertime which was wicked as well. Donnington wasn't as good but that was cos it was too big & not loud enough. Still live in Bournemouth, wishing they'd do another but wouldn't be the same as was 18 then & am 30 now!! Nice to see LeeGee still going, probably the best set I ever heard at a rave, certainly at a Fantazia event anyway & their were enough to choose from!!

Well just found this site and man do I feel like ive just popped a rubard and custard a come up on it lol Summertime for me was the best with my mates from Swanage all off our nuts. And the whole set up was awsome and wicked. Best Dj was without a doubt Ratty and Dj Easygroove. Was good to look back on the video clip section and have ordered the dvd just too see if I was in it. Cos when the video came out shortly after the event I was on it and how do I know that well I was the guy who wore a headtorch on my head.Anyone remember that? if not dont worry Great site and have added it to my favourites. Cheers for the memories and bring fantazia back

MAD MENTAL BYT FLEETO ' HARDCORE WILL NEVER DIE'

bruce

Saturday, 12 June 2004

it was a pleasure to work & promote for fantazia in the early days, such innocent fun. who remembers the wormelow nightclub? we got the worlds best dj's to come to an old run down club in herefordshire and tore the place up every time. i personally liked the chill out room upstairs (i would coz i got paid £30 a night to run it) with all the local and emerging talent like: psi, dj ono, suboptik (dave rees, spyder, spermchaser) dj milf, danny slade (what happened to that bright young thing?), dj paz, oh yeah & myself (when i could get dave rees off the decks) the artexian prophet, i played ambient house so the name was acceptable. selling the tickets for all the big events, and forgetting to sell them all & getting double or triple for them outside the front gate on the day! working on the drinks stalls and watching dave roe as he coined it, all the time worrying who was ripping him off and pocketing cash or giving away drinks. gideon, the widest boy in cheltenham, stressing about dj's not turning up and who to give the money to. '93 was the end of a lot of good things, i jumped ship with dave & gideon to help them with obsession, never did get the real story behind that one, all friends now are we boys? all we did was bring the free party feeling to a pay event, it was bound to work as those weekends spent in small oxfordshire villages & pleasant cotswold towns was the inspiration and template for the whole thing. remember your roots people, and as for robbie 'warren' dee the mystical mc i hope he just remembers, anything!

It's not fair! I'm 18 so i missed all of this stuff! I'm proper jealous too, because I'm a dedicated new-skool-old-skool raver, always in the old skool arena at Slammin Vinyl, but its nothing like the same :( I would LOVE it if there was another proper outdoor rave playing oldskool! Most of the violent pricks only like DnB so they probs wouldn't turn up and all the true ravers could have a good time. BIG UP whoever made the site + all ravers and ex-ravers
